Matthew's surgery

Towards the end of September, as I was leaving the temple, I got a call from Matthew that he had met with a surgeon about a cyst on his tailbone.  He had made the appt so that we could get on the schedule to have it removed over Thanksgiving or Christmas break.  They cyst had grown and was very painful to the point of Matthew not being able to walk and passing out from pain.  The surgeon decided it was bad enough to do the surgery that day.

I went to Mark's office and met him for lunch.  Then we bought a plane ticket and I went home to pack.  I was back in San Antonio a few hours later to get on a plane to Utah.  There was no way I could get there by the time Matthew needed to leave the hospital.  My mother-in-law, Helen, just happened to be traveling through Utah on her way to California.  She stopped at the hospital and picked up Matthew and took him to his place.  Then later that evening she picked me up from the airport and we spent the night at a hotel next door to Matthew's apartment.

I took Matthew to my grandmother's house in Salt Lake.  I spent 5 days with my Grandmother and taking care of Matthew.

Matthew didn't really need me that much but it was nice to visit.  He healed much quicker than we thought he would.
