They spread out weed block
They had to spread out 9 cubic yards of crushed granite on top of the weed block
Then they had to compact the crushed granite. The barrel is full of water and had to be rolled along the trail to compact everything.

Finished product of phase 1. We had 4 adults and 15 boys help with the project.
The next phase will be to build a cedar post archway for the trail head.
