This is his design. It worked! Don't know the grade yet.
One of the other guys in his class made a catapult that shot the ball 36 meters. He had the bar reinforced with metal. Another kid tried to catch the ball on the other end of the launch. When the ball hit his hand he jumped back and yelled. There was a purple circle left from the golf ball on his hand.
